Race Description
The Jaime Pinaire 5K Race & Fun Run is a community event held in memory of Jaime Pinaire—an athlete, educator, and Chatham High School graduate.
Proceeds from the race benefit the James A. Pinaire III Foundation, which provides scholarship support to students with financial need, including graduates of Chatham High School and Robert Treat Academy. Participants can run, walk, or join virtually while supporting educational opportunity and honoring Jaime’s legacy.
This event is open to everyone—from experienced runners to first‑time participants. Runners, walkers, families, students, neighbors, and community members are all welcome. Whether you’re racing for a personal best, walking with friends, or simply coming out to support a meaningful local tradition, there’s a place for you at this event. Dogs and running strollers are welcome.
Participants may choose from in‑person and virtual options, including the 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) and the 1 Mile Fun Run. The 5K race is professionally timed by Compuscore, with results available online shortly after the race. You can upload your photos of the event to the race website - easy instructions are here. 2026 Race Dedication: Terry McCabe
This year's Jaime Pinaire 5K Race & Fun Run is dedicated in honor of Terry McCabe, a dear friend and longtime supporter of the James A Pinaire III Foundation. From the very beginning, Terry gave his time energy and enthusiasm to help make this event meaningful for everyone - serving on the planning team year after year.
Terry didn't just help organize the race - he lived it. He often ran the 5K himself and then brought the finish line to life as our DJ, calling out runners by name, sharing his signature humor and keeping the celebration going with music and joy.
Terry's presence and unwavering support will be deeply missed, and our hearts are with his family and loved ones. We are grateful for his friendship and we will honor his legacy as we come together to support educational scholarships for students with financial need.

Packet pickup will be available on May 29 and 30 at Chatham High School.
For virtual participants who can't pick up their shirts locally, please include the shipping fee in your registration and we will mail it to you. Must register by May 10, 2026 to be eligible for a t-shirt!

The Jaime Pinaire 5K Race & Fun Run is truly a community effort and would not be possible without the generous support of our volunteers. We are especially in need of course monitors for the Fun Run and 5K, who help ensure participants stay on course and have a great race-day experience. We also need help with other positions that help run a smooth event.
If you're able to lend a hand, we'd love to have you join us. Volunteers who sign up by May 10, 2026 will receive a race T-shirt.
